These activists are forces of change, each in their own specific community and for the Black Lives Matter movement. While there are countless activists that we could feature, these individuals resonated most strongly for us as students.

Rachael Adams

Rachael is an Olympic medalist, Adidas athlete and no stranger to competition. The indoor-volleyball player created a website (@journeystrength) to explore wellness, and she continues to use her platform to encourage personal growth, promote healthy habits, and advocate for Black athletes.

Jhánneu Roberts

@jhanneau

Sustainable influencer and environmental racial disparities writer Jhánneu spends her time building a healthier world through sustainable product reviews and advocacy against systemic racism. She offers knowledge for everything, from minimizing your carbon footprint to better understanding racial ecological disparities.

Taylor Nolan

You may know Seattlite Taylor from The Bachelor, but this activist, blogger, psychotherapist, and podcast host (@letstalkaboutit) does a whole lot more than reality TV. Taylor isn’t afraid to talk about important subjects ranging from sexual health, body positivity, and femininity, to plants and healthy eating.

Tori Baird

If you’re an avid outdoor enthusiast, you’ll enjoy Tori’s uplifting feed. This active mom runs an outdoor company (check out @paddlelikeagirl_ if you're interested) that focuses on advocating for women of color to get outside and be empowered through survival, outdoor skills, and rural living.

Patrisse Cullors-Brignac

As co-founder of @blklivesmatter, advocate for jail reforms, law-enforcement reformer, artist, organizer, and freedom fighter, Patrisse is the definition of a force for change. Her books, documentaries, and words of wisdom are the best place for anyone looking to better understand the BLM organization.

Dawud Walid

Imam, researcher, lecturer, writer, and executive director of CAIR-Michigan, Dawud focuses his efforts on addressing Islamophobia and leading Muslim protest movements in the U.S. and countries across the globe. He is a man of wise words regarding religion, civil rights, and Islamic activism.

Ibram X. Kendi

Professor, historian, writer, speaker and one of the leading antiracist voices, this national book award and NYT best-selling author is an excellent source for legit news and brilliant commentary. You should also take some time to listen to his moving TED Talk called “How to Build an Antiracist World”.

Jesse Williams

Jesse is an actor, director, producer, and one of the founders of Question Bridge, a media project aimed at representing Black men. He also dabbles in activism against racism in prisons, spotlights other artists and activists, and speaks wisely on various crucial issues on his page.

Rachel Cargle

Public Academic, writer and lecturer, Rachel founded the The Loveland Foundation, which provides therapy support to young Black girls and women. She is a beautiful storyteller and her work is rooted in intersectionality and providing discourse for civil rights and women's rights.
