YOUTUBERS

We know you spend too much time on Youtube. It’s okay, we do too. Here are some of the best content creators and advocates we think you should spend time with while you fall into your inevitable procrastination wormhole again.

Activists | Artists | Writers

Eva Gutowski

@mylifeaseva

Eva is an influencer and actress boasting 11 million subscribers on Youtube for good reason. The conservationist, musician, and designer chronicles her life in hilarious fashion, but has also used her platform to advocate for and speak on injustice and lightskin privilege.

GloZell Green

@glozell

Author, singer, rapper, and comedian, Glozell does it all. Her channel features challenges, DIY videos, song parodies intermingled with interviews (like the one with former President Barack Obama about racial profiling and police brutality) and uses comedy to approach difficult topics.

Andrea Brooks

@andreaschoice

Beauty and fashion influencer Andrea has a growing channel that features DIY hacks, makeup, clothing, and health videos. Whether it's curly hair hacks or advice on happiness, she is a strong voice in the beauty industry, and has an actively voiced call for representation over the years.

DeStorm Power

@destorm

DeStorm is an entrepreneur, comedian, musician, Emmy nominated actor, and the founder of the Zeus Streaming Network, among many other things. His channel features everything from music videos to his signature web series, and he has always educated his subscribers on racial disparities and civil rights.

Richard Williams

@prince_ea

Richard is a spoken word artist, activist, rapper, and motivational self-love speaker offering life advice from relationships to finding purpose. He discusses global and cultural topics, climate change, education, and a plethora of other issues in America, and it’s hard to watch his videos without feeling a major call to action.

Jackie Aina

@jackieaina

Jackie’s channel has a plethora of beauty and makeup tutorials and product reviews. She blurs the lines between content creator and activist by working to change the standard of beauty while speaking up about diversity and inclusion, for which she was awarded YouTuber of the Year by the NAACP back in 2018.

Gary Thompson

@theplasticboy

Gary is a cosmetics expert who features weekly makeup tutorials, skincare, and fashion advice. He is known as the “face of modern male cosmetics”, and is a non-problematic beauty guru (which we certainly need more of) who talks about diversity problems within the beauty industry, gay rights, and the civil rights movement across the globe.

Mac Kahey

@macdoesit

Mac is an entertainer who uses comedy, self-effacing wit, and humor to talks about issues in the queer community, racism, and anti-gay advertising in a way that is insightful, yet still funny. He does challenges, hilarious “storytimes” (see “If Donald Trump Had Snapchat”) and more, and is sure to keep you engaged and your post notifications on.

AdrianXpression

@adrianxpression

Vlogger, podcast host, and eBook author Adrian covers pop culture and provides entertaining videos, as well as discussions on a wide array of racial and LGBT issues. He utilizes his platform to raise awareness for and educate about issues that disproportionately affect minorities, working to provide the often disenfranchised with a safe space for discussion.
