As we were creating this website, we thought about how we could build an interactive platform. It's important to diversify your feed, educate yourself, and find ways to support the Black Lives Matter movement, but it's equally important to have conversations with the people in your community. Seattle is large, and sometimes we forget to walk outside our same circles. Through this blog, we hope you will listen to the voices of your classmates, your home team, and your city.
Our Contributors
Each week, we will publish posts written by students on their significant experiences, personal stories, or words of wisdom. We send students an invite to be a contributor to our site – as indicated by the feather pen next to their name – which allows them to have their own profile and directly contribute posts. Prior to publication, we review the posts for formatting purposes and create complimentary digital illustrations, which we also use to promote the posts on our Instagram page.
We originally intended this blog to have contributors from the UW community (hence why we called it From Our Pack - go Dawgs!), but we recognized the importance of expanding our Pack to include voices of all backgrounds. So even if you're a high school student or a college student from another university, don't hesitate to contribute.
Use Your Voice
We are actively searching for a diverse set of voices so if you have a topic you're interested in writing about, please reach out to us through this survey. This is a space where you have complete creative freedom, and we honor that by allowing students to write about anything they want, as long as it's relevant to the Black Lives Matter movement. If writing isn't your thing and you prefer expressing topics through art, click here to send us your work and we will gladly share it through our platform.
We want to make this a long-term movement, where we all listen, grow, and learn, and we're excited to have you join this community.
